Why “Sawyers”?

The “Sawyers” in Sawyers Control Systems comes from a beloved literary reference from company founder Tom Callahan. Even as a teenager, Tom’s goal was to one day start a business named for his favorite fictional character, Tom Sawyer. He wanted the spirit of that company to reflect some of the things he loved best about Mark Twain’s lively boy from the banks of the Mississippi: it would embrace boldness, a desire to explore the next horizon, and an emphasis on using creativity and intelligence to find ingenious ways to get things done.

After years in the security and technology field, Tom achieved his dream. He founded Sawyers Control Systems in 1987 and since then, the exceptional traits that he admired in Mark Twain’s character have been the pillars of what this company is all about.
